Just across the road from us, you will find the second oldest museum in Australia, The Tasmanian Art Museum. If you are wanting an insight into Tasmania's past and unique history then this is the place for you with its large, rich collection. Offering a variety of educational experiences, temporary exhibitions, and special displays, TMAG has something for all different age groups.

Salamanca Market

If visiting Salamanca was on your list of things to do in Hobart, then our Hotel is the ideal location to stay. The Salamanca precinct is only a short stroll away from our doorstep. Take yourself along the waterfront to Salamanca, one of Hobart's hot spots for nightlife fun and daytime activities. You will be entertained with plenty of restaurants, bars, art galleries and even a 7D cinema that's great for kids and adults alike.

Hobart CBD is only a five-minute walk from our accommodation, with a variety of stores available including boutique and designer shops, antique stores, book shops as well as delicious dining and takeaway options. 

Mawsons Hut

4 minutes away 

If you look in the direction of Salamanca Place then you may notice a little wooden hut occupying a small patch of lawn around Hobart's waterfront. Only a 2-minute walk away lies a replica of just one of six sites left of the Antarctic Exploration Era. This particular one. Mawson's Hut, is located at Cape Denison on Commonwealth Bay in the Antarctic Expedition. Definitely worth having a look if you're a history buff! 

Botanical Gardens

10 minutes away

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, only a short stroll away from the Hotel Grand Chancellor, is one of Australia's oldest Botanic Gardens. The gardens have something for everyone, especially flower lovers and history buffs. You will be exploring for hours!

You can even dine in the garden with the Succulent Restaurant located in the Vistors Centre right in the heart of the garden. If you're just feeling a little bit peckish, they also have a cafe with outdoor seating.

The Red Decker

5 minutes away

Take yourself to Brooke Street Pier and book your seat on the big red bus. One of the best ways to see and explore Hobart is to jump on board the Red Decker bus. With expert commentary from the friendly team at Red Decker, you will be able to see Hobart and all its beauty. Join the official sightseeing tour, as they take you on a city loop that operates between 20 popular locations, including the MONA ferry terminal at Brooke Street Pier, Cascade Brewery, The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens as well as Sandy Bay precinct.
