Huon Valley Mid-Winter Feast
14th-15th July 2023
Returning for its 10th year in 2023, this festival is a celebration of the region’s long apple-picking history and the age-old tradition of wassail - warding off evil spirits in the hope for a bigger crop the following year.
This family-friendly event is held at the amazing Willie Smith’s Apple Shed, one of Tasmania’s best cider producers.
If hot cider, belly-warming food, local folk artists, a giant burning wicker man, scaring spirits away through song and dance in wacky costumes sounds like fun, this might be the Winter festival for you!
Here are a couple of our tips to ensure you get the most out of this awesome festival:
- SHUTTLE BUS - The Huon Valley is located a 30-minute drive south of the Hotel. A shuttle bus operates between the festival and the Hobart CBD, so make sure you book a place for the ultimate night out.
- CASHLESS EVENT - The festival is a cashless event, so make sure that you have alternative forms of payment prepared before you go!
- DRESS UP - Join in the fun and create your finest Pagan attire - there are cash prizes for the best dressed! But also, be sure to dress warm - layers are your best friend!
