Sky Tower

At 328 metres high, Sky Tower gives visitors a striking introduction to Auckland, with a sweeping bird’s-eye view over the city. From Hotel Grand Chancellor Auckland, it’s only a five-minute walk to the tower, where a glass-fronted lift carries you to the observation levels in just 40 seconds.

The Main Observation Level sits 186 metres above street level, with 360-degree views and 38mm-thick glass floor panels you can stand on for a straight-down look at the streets below. Even higher, Sky Deck reaches 220 metres, the tower’s highest viewing platform.

On a clear day, views stretch around 80 kilometres, taking in the Hauraki Gulf, volcanic cones, harbour and city skyline. Visit during daylight for the clearest landmarks, or later in the day for panoramic sunset views as Auckland lights up below.
