1. North Stradbroke Island 

Known to the locals as ‘Straddie’, Stradbroke Island offers an abundance of beautiful beaches and water activities such as diving and surfing. Simply hop on the ferry for 25 minutes to indulge in the beauty that is North Stradbroke.  

2. Moreton Island 

If you are planning an escape from the city, Moreton Island is the perfect place. Only 75 minutes from Brisbane via ferry, the island is packed with epic activities! From sand tobogganing to night kayaking through the lush waters, the third largest island in the world will keep you busy.  

3. Sunflowers in Lockyer Valley 

“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. It’s what sunflowers do.” Sometimes you need to take a leaf out of nature’s book and the sunflowers in Lockyer Valley are certainly eye opening. Visit the fields during summer for picture perfect scenes.

For a taste of pure summer all year round, head to the Gold Coast for sun and surf. Shop up a storm in Surfers Paradise, appreciate Mother Earth in the hills of Tambourine Mountain, grab brunch in Burleigh Head, or test your limits at the theme parks further north.

Our top tip for making your time in Brisbane memorable is to get a taste of the city’s impressive history. The Brisbane City Hall is a historical landmark and has an observation platform at the top of the building’s clock tower – a great spot for pictures!  

10. Sunshine Coast 

Just north of the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast is a bustling hive of activity. We recommend checking out the Eumundi Markets, Mooloolaba, and the Buderim Forest Park for a taste of local cuisine, atmosphere, and natural beauty.
